This handy application provides you information about the historic California Gold Rush community of Mariposa. Founded along the banks of Mariposa Creek in 1849, this community has retained some of its original Gold Country character with its Historic Courthouse (1854), Old Town frontier business community that is still thriving and proving goods and services to residents and visitors to Yosemite National Park, just up the road. Local attractions, such as the California State Mining and Mineral Museum, the Mariposa History Center and numerous buildings and sites that date from the 1850s, along with cultural events, historic tours and directories to local hotels, dining and retail stops. With regular bus service between Merced and Yosemite, and over 350 hotel/motel rooms, Mariposa is one of the favorite staging areas of visitors touring the Yosemite region and California’s Southern Mother Lode Gold Country. The App is linked to Google Maps so that visitors can easily locate parking, public facilities, and locations for goods and services. The site also contains information about local events.
